Railway tracks are highly stressed components – their load increases due to increasing traffic (load changes), increasing axle loads and increasing speeds, especially in the area of high-speed lines. Therefore, depending on the load profile, laid rails must be subjected to careful control. Searching, finding and evaluating damage such as head checks, squats and other cracks, even in weld seams, is therefore the task of a modern eddy current testing device. The ELORAIL WPG D340 draisine from Rohmann is made of ultra-light CFRP and can be operated simply and easily by just one person. Assembly and dismantling is possible in a short time without tools. The draisine is versatile and can be equipped with the appropriate eddy current devices depending on the test task and scope. The draisine is guided by a new, patented magnetic holder. This enables an extremely smooth and precise inspection of the entire rail head. The draisine is guided exclusively by magnetic forces (adjustable) at the driving edge and makes it suitable for switches. The sensors have ceramic wear protection and can be guided both contactless and sliding.
